Bachelor-Syracuse Mine Tour & Cafe

The Bachelor-Syracuse Mine Tour takes you 3,350 feet horizontally into Gold Hill, rich in gold, silver, and other precious metals. Guests are at all times accompanied by a thoroughly trained guide who has first-hand experience working the mine. The guides are prepared to answer questions and eager to share the legend and lore of the mine. You will see the equipment used in mining, the rich silver veins and other mineral deposits. The slopes, declines, crosscuts, run-a-rounds and drifts will be fully explained. You will visit the work areas and see how explosives are used (there are no explosives underground at this time). Tours are every hour on the hour, seven days a week (closed July 4th). From May 20 to June 30, tours begin at 9 AM and run until 4 PM. From July 1 to July 31, tours begin at 9 AM and run until 5 PM. From August 1 to September 15, tours begin at 9 AM and run until 4 PM. MINERS CAFE - Texas Style BBQ and All You Can Eat Breakfast Enjoy the scenic view from the Bachelor-Syracuse Mine Tour outdoor cafe while sampling slow smoked Texas style barbecue or the best breakfast in Ouray. Treasure Chest is a unique gift shop featuring exquisite gold nugget jewelry, colorful ore and mineral specimens, and exciting souvenirs for both children and adults. You'll find gold panning equipment so you can strike it rich after you've been trained by the Bachelor-Syracuse experts. Trick your friends with pyrite ("fool's gold") purchased from the gift shop! Commemorative apparel, wares tempered in the local blacksmith shop, and works from local artists are also available. GOLD PANNIN' - STRIKE IT RICH! Learn how to pan for gold from an authentic gold panning instructor in the stream that runs directly from the Bachelor-Syracuse Mine. Supplied with a gold pan and a vial to keep what you find, you'll be panning just like the Old-Timers in minutes! RESERVATIONS are highly recommended in July and August, especially if you are on a tight schedule and do not wish to have a long wait. Generally, a 24 hour notice is all that is necessary. AAA, AARP, senior, and children rates are available. Discounts available for school, church, scout, and tour groups with 20 or more people. Your vehicle can make the two mile trip to the mine.
