Nederland's Historic Carousel of Happiness is a Restored, Fully-Functioning 1910 Looff Carousel with 56 Playful Hand-Carved Animals -- Rides are only $3

THE CAROUSEL OF HAPPINESS - RESTORED 1910 LOOFF story began when Scott Harrison was a 19-year-old Marine Gunner serving in Vietnam. The gift of a music box, the image of a carousel in a mountain meadow calmed Scott; and, many years later, after rescuing an abandoned carousel, he began carving what would become a whimsical menagerie. It took him a little over 26 years to hand-carve the 56, whimsical, unique animals; from a moose to a pig, from a dragon to a rooster.

A dedicated group of volunteers helped bring the carousel to life in our little mountain town of Nederland, west of Boulder; and visited by thousands of people every month. The Carousel of Happiness is a non-profit giving away thousands of rides every year to people who benefit from a place to find a moment of peace and happiness.

ACCESSIBILITY: We have a wheelchair ramp and step stools; our staff is walker-friendly. The carousel has several stationary benches and easy-to-ride seats.

GIFT SHOP: Bring a piece of the fun home: T-Shirts, calendars, books, patches and postcards feature pictures of the Carousel and it's lovely menagerie. Support this amazing non-profit!

HOURS OPEN BY MONTH FOR Carousel of Happiness - Restored 1910 Looff

May - September: Monday - Thursday 11am-5pm; and, Friday, Saturday, Sunday 10am-5pm.

October - April: Open Monday & Thursday 11am-5pm; Friday, Saturday, Sunday 10am-5pm, and Closed Tuesday & Wednesday.

HOLIDAY HOURS: Check the website above for hours. Open for Spring Break, Thanksgiving Break, and Winter Break. Closed Thanksgiving Day & Christmas Day.

RIDES TICKETS: $3 for everyone 1 year and older, children under 1 ride free.

RENT THE CAROUSEL OF HAPPINESS

RENT THE CAROUSEL OF HAPPINESS: Rent the entire Carousel outside of our regular business hours. You the bring food and drinks for the celebration. CAROUSEL RENTAL: $500 for 2 hours; Deposit: $250 holds the date. INCLUDES: Unlimited rides.

CAROUSEL PARTY ROOM and PUPPET THEATRE RENTAL: During regular hours rent our party room and puppet theater. You bring the cake; we provide the ride tickets! PARTY ROOM RENTAL: $75/hr; Deposit: $25 holds the date. INCLUDES: 10 tickets per hour and a Birthday Banner (or see our Member's Party Package for a great deal)! PUPPET THEATRE RENTAL: $40/hr; Deposit: $25 holds the date.

LOCATION: Carousel of Happiness a Restored 1910 Looff is in north central Colorado, along the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway, in Nederland Colorado between Estes Park and Idaho Springs.

DIRECTIONS: From Boulder take Colorado Highway 119 (Boulder Canyon Drive) into Nederland; the Carousel is just off Highway 119 at 20 Lakeview Drive, right beside the Train Cars Coffee Shop.

DRIVE TIMES: Boulder 30 minutes. Idaho Springs 45 minutes. Estes Park, Lyons, Longmont, and Denver are all about an hour.
