Travel to high-mountain lakes or traverse passes with alpine meadows covered in wildflowers; visit the 1965 T33A jet crash the Air Force left; explore 100-year-old mining camps and ghost towns; visit mind-boggling geological sites, or tour the backcountry's spectacular fall color.
GOOD TRAIL ETIQUETTE: Stay on the trail to avoid erosion and damage to our wilderness environment; respect private property; not littering; and respect our wildlife. By maintaining a responsible stewardship of the trails and wilderness, we can ensure continued access to the forest for ourselves and for generations to come.
MIDDLE SAINT VRAIN TRAIL SYSTEM: 18 miles south of Estes Park. The trails range from easy to extreme. There is something fun for every skill level. This trail gives you everything you are looking for in Colorado. One of the main attractions is a Plane Crash, that happened in 1965. It was a T-33A military jet and the Air Force left everything at the site. Also, we have the beautiful hidden Pony Ponds where the local moose like to hang out. Another attraction is the Middle Saint Vrain 114 trail, that takes you up to beautiful views of the Continental Divide, Beaver Reservoir and sub alpine views. This 20-mile trail hosts moderate to difficult terrain and mountain rivers to cross.
OLD FALL RIVER ROAD: This is a "must do" experience and is the only place to ride inside Rocky Mountain National Park. The views of the park are beyond compare. Only licensed vehicles are permitted so our TOMCAR ATV are prefect. Old Fall River Road starts 10 minutes west of Estes Park. Once you start, this one-way road takes you past Big Horn Mountain and Mount Chiquita straight up to the Alpine Visitors Center well above the tree line (11,796 ft). Sit back and take in the views, wildlife, waterfalls and all that is Rocky Mountain National Park. From the Alpine Visitors Center, you re-connect with Trail Ridge Road and make your way back down to Estes Park. You won't be disappointed.
There are also abandoned railroad beds and wagon trails in our mountains near the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway.
Drivers must be 16 years or older with a Driver License.
