The snowmobiling surrounding the area of Creede runs through the Rio Grande National Forest, boasting almost 96 miles of snowmobile trails. These trails are maintained November through March. The trails start at 8,500 feet and climb to almost 13,000 feet, with views of spectacular ranges and winter scenery. The snow depths range from one to two feet in Creede to eight feet or more on the mountaintops.

The area around Creede has 4 trails groomed for snowmobiling:

  • The Bristol Head Trail travels 16 miles to the 12,702-foot high point. The trail follows the road up through the trees, with many large parks for playing.
  • The Snow Mesa Trail connects Lake City trails at Spring Creek Pass. It follows Road #505 up Rat Creek to the top of the Colorado trail and down to Spring Creek Pass, bringing you through 16 miles of excitement.
  • The Pool Table Road travels past Hanson's Mill and winds around for 27 miles before arriving at the Wheeler parking lot. The area around the trails is a designated wilderness area, so please stay on the trails to preserve nature.
  • The Love Lake Trail travels 10 miles, following Road #523 past Love Lake to Cooper Creek. The woods and the vistas of this trail are amazing.
