The largest gold nugget ever found in North America was found 20 miles from Fairplay, CO. This nugget dubbed "Tom's baby" was 151 ounces and about the size of an adult human head. Geologists have made the statement "These gold fields contain more gold than was taken out by all the mining done over the last 120 years." MiddleFork RV Resort is the ONLY resort in the area with private gold prospecting on the premises.
The Resort is walking distance to fabulous restaurants, shopping, bowling, and the famous South Park Museum.
We are near a grocery, hardware, rafting, hot springs, and skiing at Breckenridge Ski Area.
