Spend a day at America's only mountain ZOO!
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo features more than 750 animals from around the world. All of your favorites are here . . . from giraffes and elephants to lions and monkeys, hippos and bears. It's also a rare opportunity to see more than 30 endangered species including the Amur tiger, Mexican wolf, and Snow Leopard. The giraffes are a "must-see" ...they will literally eat from your hand and giraffe crackers can be purchased at the exhibit. You can walk the hilly terrain or catch the tram at one of 7 stops (tram runs seasonally).
The Zoo isn't just for animals. Take an exciting ride on a historic carousel, tot train, wild-west pony or on their picturesque Mountaineer Sky Ride. There's something for the child in everyone!
Mountain weather changes rapidly, so bring a light jacket. The Zoo can be steep in some spots, wear appropriate shoes. Bring a picnic and spend the day! There are many spots in which to enjoy a picnic. Or, feel free to enjoy the unique offerings from the brand new Grizzly Grill (open Spring of 2010).
KID'S FUN at the Zoo:
Whether you're young in years, or young at heart, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo has fun-filled exhibits, parties, games and rides to satisfy your playful side. Visit My Big Backyard to play on giant plants and garden furniture or feel the soft fur of a rabbit or guinea pig. In the Budgie Buddies exhibit, you can walk among Australian parakeets and other birds that may even eat from a seed stick held in your hand!
PARTY EVENTS
We'll help you throw a party that no one will forget! The Zoo offers options to fit your every whim -- from pony and primate parties to personalized themes.
