Challenge Unlimited, Ltd. - Pikes Peak by Bike
800-798-5954
We are Colorado Springs oldest and most experienced mountain bike touring company. We offer several guided and self-guided tours. Best known for our downhill bike tour on the Pikes Peak Highway.
Zebulon Pike never dreamed people would ride mountain bikes down the peak that bears his name. However, on June 1, 1991, 18 bicyclists embarked on the first ride. Now, Pikes Peak by Bike offers you the chance to join the adventure and experience the thrill!
When you arrival at the Pikes Peak by Bike office you'll enjoy a delicious breakfast as you are introduced to our staff and to your fellow riders. Vans will take you to the summit of Pikes Peak, where guides will outfit you with 27-speed mountain bikes, warm riding gear (coats, hats, mittens), helmets and water bottles. The ride lasts 2-1/2 hours, after which you will enjoy a hearty lunch. Souvenir water bottles are given out to add to your memories.
GO FOR THE GOLD ride is best suited for those who want an easy downhill ride. It offers great vistas of Colorado Springs, Cheyenne Canyon, and the eastern plains. The 17 mile ride follows the Gold Camp Road; an old railroad bed used for transporting gold from Cripple Creek. From St. Peters Dome we will begin our descent through beautiful Aspen and pine forests, old railroad tunnels and rock formations that truly do "bankrupt the English language."
Participants must be at least 10 years old; advance reservations are advised.
Pikes Peak by Bike also rents bikes and guides multi-day excursions. Rent a mountain bike for a 1/2 or full day and enjoy the areas many trails.
