The largest and grandest opera house west of the Mississippi was built by strike-it-rich legend Horace Tabor in 1879. 800 theater-goers could sit in the plush red seats. Houdini, John Phillip Sousa, Oscar Wilde and boxer Jack Dempsey appeared on the stage. Step back in time as you walk across the stage, visit the dressing rooms and sit in the box seats.

The Tabor Opera House proudly stands as one of Colorado's premiere historical locations in beautiful Leadville. Restoration plans are moving forward, and this historical jewel will "sparkle" again soon.

AUGUST

  • Friday 5th, 7:30 pm Keir Royale and Anikka -- A dynamic mix of comedy, magic and professional illusion
  • Saturday 6th, 7:30 pm Con Fuego! -- Original flamenco & classical Spanish dance choreography. Spanish guitar by Isaac Albeniz, Manuel De Falla, Joaquin Rodrigo and Paco de Lucia.
  • Saturday 13th, 1 pm History of Hats presented by Colleen Cassell, the lady with over 500 hats! A catered tea will be held between noon and 1 pm.
  • Saturday 20th, 7:30 pm Just Pure Laughs! Dan McGowan! A great combination of music and comedy. credits include Last Comic Standing, 1st place in 2009 Branson Comedy Festival.
  • Saturday 27th, 7:30 pm Andrew Johnson at the keys of the Tabor Knabe Grand Piano
