Originally founded by Spanish farmers, Walsenburg in southern Colorado lies just off I-25, but feels like a town untouched by modern times. The Scenic Highway of Legends, which begins west of town and continues its way through some of Colorado's most interesting historical locales and beautiful scenery.

The Budget Host Motel & Campground offers senior discount with 17 motel rooms and RV sites next door. The RV sites offer pull thrus, cement patios, and picnic tables. The motel was redecorated in the late 1990s. Walk to the restaurant across Street.

Try Lathrop State Park just west of town, in view of the Spanish Peaks Mountain Range. In summer, take a refreshing swim at the lake!
