Near Pagosa Springs await innumerable opportunities for the avid angler. The San Juan River and its tributaries, including the East & West Forks, Fourmile Creek, Rio Blanco, Turkey Creek and Wolf Creek, make fishing enjoyable for all skill levels.

Fishing Destinations around Pagosa Springs:

  1. The San Juan River begins from the West Fork and Wolf Creek along US Highway 160. It follows US 160 to Pagosa Springs and flows south to Navajo Lake/Dam. Productive fishing occurs throughout summer and, if snow pack is good, through much of fall.
  2. The West Fork of the San Juan River begins northwest of US 160. Its confluence with Wolf Creek and then the East Fork are the beginnings of the main San Juan River flow.
  3. East Fork of the San Juan River begins east of US 160 and south of Treasure Mountain (11,908'). East Fork Road provides access suitable for most vehicles before crossing over the river.
  4. Fourmile Creek and Lake begin north of Pagosa Peak (12,640') and joins the San Juan River just north of Pagosa Springs.
  5. Turkey Creek and Lake begins north of Eagle Mountain and joins the San Juan River slightly south of the East Fork.
  6. Piedra River runs to the west of Piedra Road.
  7. Echo Canyon Reservoir is south of Pagosa Springs with access from US 84.
  8. Navajo Lake collects the flows of the San Juan & Piedra rivers at the Border of Colorado & New Mexico.
