Spinney Mountain State Park is a DAY-USE ONLY PARK open from mid-April to mid-November offering an isolated retreat ideal for vacationers seeking beautiful views of the Collegiate Mountain Range. The Reservoir is known for its Gold Medal trout, abundant waterfowl, and excellent hunting.

FISHING! When its good at SPINNEY MOUNTAIN STATE PARK -- it's hard to beat! Home to trophy-sized cutthroat trout, as well as rainbows, browns and northern pike. Spinney provides excellent belly boating, shore fishing and trolling opportunities for anglers. Fishing trails along the river both above and below Spinney Reservoir offer catch-and-release river fishing.

Many migratory and resident birds inhabit the park, including a variety of songbirds, raptors, waterfowl and shorebirds. Three rare bird species observed at the park include the bald eagle, American peregrine falcon and white pelican.

HUNTING in season at Spinney Mountain State Park is fruitful with Big game, small game and waterfowl hunting, please be sure to have valid hunting license.

Swimming and water-skiing are specifically prohibited.

Spinney Mountain is a day-use only park, open 1/2 hour before sunrise and closing an hour after sunset. Spinney Mountain State Park is closed each year during the winter months from the close of business on October 31st until after ice-off takes place each spring.

Spinney Mountain State Park is a DAY-USE ONLY PARK and does not offer camping.

Directions to Spinney Mountain State Park:

LOCATION: From I-25 and US Highway 24 in Colorado Springs, take Hwy 24 55 miles west over Wilkerson Pass. Turn South on County Road 23 (San Juan Street) and then turn right on County Road 59.

LOCATION: From Fairplay take Colorado Highway 9/US Highway 285 south for 18 miles to Highway 24, turn east onto Hwy 24. Turn South on County Road 23 (San Juan Street) and then turn right on County Road 59.
