Fishing in the Greater Antonito Area

The greater Antonito area is an excellent choice for fishing. No matter which river or reservoir you choose, no matter what time of year you're on the water, you will have something biting your line. Fish for Kokanee Salmon, Common Carp, Channel Catfish, Yellow Perch, Walleye, Northern Pike, and Trout: Rainbow, Brown, Brook, Native Cutthroat, Splake.

The Conejos and the Rio Grande Rivers have designated Gold Medal Waters! Cast your line into the Rio Grande, teeming with brook, cutthroat, rainbow and brown trout. The Conejos River is also an acclaimed gold medal trout fishing river; flowing from the San Juan Wilderness in southern Colorado, the Conejos provides fly-fishing anglers excellent rainbow, brook and brown trout fishing. Whether you settle in by a River or find a crystal clear lake, you're going to experience Colorado's best fishing.

Please note: The water level rises and falls often in this area so boating may not be allowed depending on water levels; check water levels before you hitch up the boat.
