Grand Lake offers recreation throughout the year. During warmer months, typically from May through September, Jeep and ATV trails are open to the west of Grand Lake and Lake Granby. Closer to Grand Lake is the North Supply Creek Trail while Kawuneeche Trail begins near Lake Granby. For a longer off-road experience follow Stillwater Pass Road past Apiatan Mountain (10,319') and Porphry Peaks (11,335').

Kawuneeche Road offers a bit more technical terrain for a more experienced drive and access to North Supply Creek Road for a bit more time off-road. When the journey is over, Grand Lake Village invites you to enjoy the amenities in a quiet setting bordered by Rocky Mountain National Park.

Getting to Grand Lake for a day of four-wheel driving is a simple drive north on US Highway 40 from Interstate 70. Exit 232 to Empire and continue on to Granby at the junction of US 34. Travel north on US 34 to the north end of Lake Granby and Grand Lake to find the respective trails.

If you're coming from Fort Collins, head west on US 34 continuing on through Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP). US 34 is known as Trail Ridge Road Scenic Byway through RMNP.
