Snowmobiling in North Park and Walden

The snowmobile trails located just east of Rocky Mountain National Park around Gould, Rand, and Walden offer over 100 miles of groomed trails. These trails run across rivers, over passes, and through meadows allowing you to view multiple mountain ranges as you have fun exploring all that the area has to offer. Access to the trails is from 4 major trailheads: Ruby Jewel, Gould, 7 Utes, and Agnes Lake.

Please Note: Moose have been known to hang around on the open trails so please respect wildlife; this is their home and you are the visitor.

Ruby Jewel Trailhead - Take Highway 14 north of Gould and turn right onto Road 41. You'll cross over Canadian River and come to a parking area where you can load and unload your sleds. Access the Custer Draw and South Canadian trails. These trails are for beginners to intermediate riders and have play areas for advanced riders and are located within Colorado State Forest State Park.

Gould Snowmobile Trailhead - This trailhead is located just on the south side of Gould. Access the Owl Mountain trail and Tower Loop; these trails are for beginner and intermediate riders but also have some un-groomed, off the trail areas for the more advanced riders.

7 Utes Trailhead - 7 miles east of Gould along Highway 14 is the trailhead. The first trail you will find is the Calamity Pass trail. Crossing over the pass, you'll find Jack Creek and Illinois Pass trails (if you continue south on the Illinois Pass trail, you'll connect to the Grand Lake trail system). The more advanced riders will enjoy the southern trails as they climb up into the high alpine and over peaks.

Agnes Lake & Cabin Trailhead - Just east of the closure gate on Highway 14 is the Agnes Lake & Cabin Trailhead. Beginners and intermediate riders will have fun riding along the American Lakes trail, but some more advanced riders will enjoy the hill climbing in this area. Be aware and use caution, avalanche danger is higher in this area so think before you climb. Make sure to watch for signs as the far eastern border of this trail is Rocky Mountain National Park and there is no snowmobiling allowed in the National Park.
